The Guntersville Police Department is made up of 30 certified police officers, and 10 civilian support personnel. We are entrusted with the duty and responsibility to preserve, protect, and defend the citizens and property of the City. Our goal is to provide a safe neighborhood for our children, families, and community. This department strives to carry out its goal in an ethical, courteous, impartial, and professional manner while respecting the rights and dignity of all persons.

Agencies team up for Safe Streets Task Force April 8, 2008
"It gives a more permanent focus to what we did last fall," Guntersville Police Chief Jim Peterson said. "Criminals in this county and other counties know no boundaries. This will enable us and empower us to be able to go where we need to go."
Motorcycle stunt results in the death of local man April 29, 2008
One man has died following a motorcycle crash in north Alabama. It happened at around 9:30 Monday night on Highway 431 near Highway 205 in Guntersville.
An investigation is underway as to what caused a single engine plane crash in Marshall County.
Police Chief Jim Peterson says the pilot had just taken off from the Guntersville airport and was on his way to Birmingham when he began to experience engine trouble.
